Urea

Urea is a widely used nitrogen fertilizer essential for crop growth and yield improvement. It provides a high nitrogen content, promoting healthy plant development. With excellent solubility and cost-effectiveness, urea supports efficient nutrient absorption and enhances agricultural productivity across various soil and climatic conditions.

Description

Urea Fertilizer Supplier — High-Purity 46% Nitrogen for Agriculture & Industrial Applications

Urea (CO(NH2)2) holds the distinction of being the most widely produced and traded nitrogenous fertilizer globally, commanding over 50% of total world nitrogen fertilizer consumption. With a nitrogen content of 46% — the highest among solid nitrogen fertilizers — urea offers unparalleled nutrient density per unit of transport and storage, making it the economical backbone of modern agricultural nutrition programs across India and beyond. Synthesized from ammonia and carbon dioxide under high pressure (150–250 bar) and elevated temperature (180–210 °C), the production chemistry demands precision engineering and rigorous quality control to minimize biuret formation, which can be phytotoxic at elevated concentrations. Davar ChemTech supplies agricultural-grade urea meeting Indian FCO (Fertiliser Control Order) specifications, with guaranteed total nitrogen content of 46% minimum and biuret levels below 1.5%. Each consignment is accompanied by a Certificate of Analysis verifying nitrogen content, moisture, biuret, and particle size distribution parameters.

Key Technical Features

  • 46% nitrogen content — highest concentration among all solid nitrogen fertilizers, maximizing nutrient delivery per kilogram
  • Low biuret content (< 1.5%) ensuring compatibility with foliar application and sensitive crop systems
  • Available in prilled and granulated forms for uniform field spreading and reduced dust generation
  • Excellent solubility in water (1079 g/L at 20 °C) enabling easy integration into fertigation and foliar spray programs
  • FCO-compliant product with full traceability from manufacturing source through distribution to end-farmer
  • Versatile application compatibility — soil application, top-dressing, foliar spray, and fertigation systems

Industrial Applications

Industry Reason for Use
Cereal Crops
(Wheat, Rice, Maize)
Primary nitrogen source for basal and top-dressing applications, supporting vegetative growth, tillering, and grain filling stages
Sugarcane Farming Critical nitrogen input applied in split doses throughout the long crop cycle (12–18 months) for sustained stalk growth and sugar accumulation
Cotton & Fibre Crops Supplies nitrogen for vegetative frame development and boll formation; applied in split doses synchronized with irrigation schedules
AdBlue / Diesel Exhaust Fluid High-purity automotive-grade urea used as DEF for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems reducing NOx emissions from diesel engines

In Indian agriculture, urea is the single most important fertilizer for cereal production, particularly wheat in the rabi season and rice in the kharif season. The high nitrogen content means that fewer bags per hectare are needed compared to DAP or ammonium sulphate, reducing handling, transport, and storage costs proportionally. Farmers typically apply urea in split doses — a basal application at sowing followed by one or two top-dressings during the active vegetative phase — to match nitrogen supply with crop demand curves and minimize losses through volatilization, leaching, and denitrification. The sugarcane crop, which spans 12–18 months, is particularly nitrogen-demanding, requiring 200–400 kg N/ha applied in 3–5 split doses synchronized with the crop’s phenological stages and irrigation cycles. Beyond agriculture, a growing application for high-purity urea is in the automotive sector as AdBlue (Diesel Exhaust Fluid), where 32.5% aqueous urea solution is injected into the SCR catalyst system of modern diesel engines to convert harmful nitrogen oxides (NOx) into harmless nitrogen and water vapour. This application demands urea with extremely low biuret and heavy metal content, underscoring the importance of sourcing from quality-certified suppliers.

Storage, Handling & Safety

Urea is a low-hazard material under normal handling conditions, but several precautions apply. When dissolved in water, urea solution is slightly alkaline and can cause mild skin and eye irritation — wear gloves and safety goggles during handling and mixing operations. In confined storage areas with large quantities of bagged urea, ammonia gas can accumulate due to hydrolysis — ensure adequate ventilation. Store in dry, well-ventilated areas away from heat sources. Urea is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture from humid air, leading to caking — maintain sealed bags and use within 6 months of opening. Never mix urea with calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN) or ammonium nitrate in storage, as the combination can lead to caking and, in extreme cases, decomposition hazards. For agricultural application, avoid surface application without incorporation on alkaline soils, as volatilization losses of ammonia can exceed 30% of applied nitrogen.

Supply Capability & Distribution Strength

Davar ChemTech leverages its Vadodara location in Gujarat’s agricultural heartland to supply urea across western, central, and northern India — covering the major wheat-growing belt of Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh, the sugarcane regions of Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka, and the cotton-growing districts of Gujarat and Rajasthan. We maintain coordination with authorized urea distribution channels and can arrange both bagged and bulk deliveries through our logistics partners. Standard 50 kg bag shipments are dispatched within 3–5 working days for Gujarat and Maharashtra, with 5–8 working days for other regions. Full FCO compliance documentation and batch-wise Certificate of Analysis are provided with every shipment to ensure regulatory traceability.
